Day 1 – Arrival Nairobi to Tsavo West National park

Check for flights arriving in Nairobi in the morning in readiness to depart for Tsavo West National Park

Met on arrival by your safari driver guide at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a pre safari briefing depart and drive to Tsavo West National Park to arrive at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge in time for lunch or late lunch.

Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendor of the Chyulu Hills, this classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited daily by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of plains game.

16:00hrs – visit the Mzima springs, Roaring rocks, Chaimu and to mention a few.

Mzima springs

“Mzima”, meaning alive in Kiswahili is a peaceful oasis at the heart of red-dusty Tsavo and this magical place is not to be missed. The pure water of the three Mzima’s pools filtered by the porous sponge-like soil of the Chyulu and the Shetani lava flow. The pool provides an oasis of green, an heaven for fishes, birds, monkeys, crocodiles and hippos. The main attractions are the two nature trails leading to an underwater viewing tank build to allow visitors to watch hippos!

Day 2 – Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park

06:30hrs early morning game drive in Tsavo West National park returning to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast depart for an Escorted/Guided Nature Walk in the park.

Early lunch at the Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, later at 1300hrs depart and drive to Amboseli National park to arrive in time for afternoon game viewing drive.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the glittering Mount Kilimanjaro, the lodge enjoys a uniquely privileged position at the heart of this world-famous national park.

Day 3 – Amboseli National Park

Full day in Amboseli National Park with morning and afternoon game viewing drives at 06:30hrs and 16:00hrs respectively.

1430hrs -1545hrs –Maasai Traditional dancers performance/ tree planting activity.

Day 4 – Amboseli to Soysambu Wildlife Conservancy

07:00hrs after breakfast depart with your safari driver guide and drive to Nairobi, continue with the drive dropping down the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley. Your driver guide will stop at strategic viewpoints for photography where you will come out and view the escarpment and take photos. Continue on south-westerly direction to Soysambu Conservancy in the shores of Lake Elmenteita.

Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp “Where history meets the wild kingdom”

Uniquely situated on the shoreline of sapphire-blue Lake Elmenteita where hundreds of thousands of birds congregate, is the small and exclusive Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp. This area of breathtaking beauty, also home to many rare species of animals.

16:00hrs enjoy a game viewing drive in the conservancy.

Day 5 – Lake Elmenteita & Lake Nakuru

An early breakfast in the Camp. 0700hrs depart and drive to the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park. The park, coloured by a shimmering flamingo pink from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores, is a popular place with visitors as well as locals.

Besides the greater and lesser flamingos, the park is home to many other species including, the Great crested Grebe, the black necked Grebe, little Grebe, Pelicans, Cormorant, African Darter, Egyptian Geese, night Heron, Fish Eagle, grey Heron, Marabou stork, Sacred and Hadada Ibis.

Day 6 – Soysambu to Nairobi & onward to Masai Mara

After Breakfast, at 07:30hrs depart and drive to Nairobi to arrive at Nairobi Serena Hotel for lunch in café Maghreb Restaurant.

13:30hrs Transfer to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight departing at 1515hrs to arrive Maasai Mara at 16:15hrs. You will be met at the Mara Serena Airstrip by a Serena Representative and transferred to Mara Serena Safari Lodge for check in and thereafter embark on a game viewing drive in the reserve.

Perched on the saddle of a hill, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Maasai Mara – one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. It is on this very terrain that the annual migration takes place when millions of zebra, wildebeest and gazelle cross the plains below, on their way to the rich new grasses of the Serengeti. A spectacle that should be witnessed in one’s life time!

The lodge has recently undergone a refurbishment and new facilities in operation include a new reception, bar lounge, an arrival lobby area and a gift shop. A Serena Maisha Health Club and Spa featuring an exciting spa menu, steam, sauna and gymnasium is also now open – an opportunity to have an experience of tranquillity and good health whilst on safari.

Days 7/8 – Masai Mara

Two full days in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives in the Reserve at 06:30hrs and 16:00hrs respectively. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, Maasai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. This 650 sq kilometre reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere considering its size.

One of the mornings, crown your game viewing experience with a “Bush Breakfast” by the Mara River Hippo Pools! One cannot resist the charming “Jambo” from the chefs and Masai warriors as they welcome you to our wonderfully set breakfast buffet of cold cuts, fruits, cereals and hot dishes with eggs made to your specifications as you wait. The hippos keep you company and only say “Kwaheri” (good bye) after you have had enough.

Day 9 – Masai Mara to Nairobi

0630hrs early morning game drive in Mara returning to the Lodge for breakfast and check out.

 

10:20hrs Transfer to the nearby Mara Serena Airstrip for your schedule flight departing at 1100hrs  to arrive at Wilson Airport at 1215hrs where you will meet our representative who will transfer you to Syokimau SGR Terminus to connect scheduled Madara Express Train departing at 1430hrs to Mombasa to arrive at 1920hrs. Met on arrival by our Representative who will drive you to Serena Beach Resort & Spa.

Days 10/11, Serena Beach Resort & Spa – Mombasa

Full day spent at leisure to enjoy the resort’s recreational facilities which includes: scuba diving, tennis, courts, squashes, windsurfing, deep- sea fishing, mini sailing, coral reef, snorkelling, and beach volleyball or participates on an excursion.

Day 12 – Depart Mombasa

Breakfast in the Hotel, later you will be transferred to Mombasa Terminal for scheduled Madaraka Express Train at 15:15 hrs to arrive in Nairobi at 2014 hrs  where you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to a place for dinner then later to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your scheduled flight departing late at night.
