This private reserve is set in the extensive savannah grasslands and riverine forests that border the Ewaso Nyiro River, offering the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya. In 2013 Sweetwaters Tented Camp underwent an extensive refurbishment of the public areas, which has made a significant improvement. There is a new building housing the reception, restaurant, bar lounge, guest lounge, gift shop and the kitchen including new superior Morani Tents.
